New Features in CAIT

The Latest Indicators

CAIT includes all new data, with emissions inventories through 2003.

Mapping

CAIT can produce world maps of nearly any table. To generate a map, click the Map link above the table's title bar. You can zoom in by clicking on the map, or you can color just the countries you want by clicking Countries & Regions in the navigation bar.

Graphic Projections

CAIT can generate graphs of projections from several models, out to the year 2100. Within CAIT, click Projections under the Graph Trends menu in the navigation bar.

GHG Intensity Calculations

CAIT lets you specify the year and gases used to calculate GHG Intensity of Economy. Within, CAIT, click Emissions Intensities under the GHG Emissions menu in the navigation bar and use the controls above the table's title bar. You can also choose the gases used for GHG intensities in Calculate Trends. You can also choose whether GHG intensity is calculated in international dollars or U.S. dollars (within CAIT, click Display in the navigation bar).

Fossil Fuel Reserves

CAIT lets you choose which fossil fuels (coal, oil and/or natural gas) are used to compute the intensity of fossil fuel reserves. You can also choose whether reserves are displayed as energy content (tons of oil equivalent) or carbon content (tons of carbon or carbon dioxide). Within, CAIT, click Fossil Fuel Reserves under the Natural Factors menu in the navigation bar and use the controls above the table's title bar.

Income and Intensity Measurement

CAIT lets you choose whether national GDP is measured in terms of purchasing power parity (in international dollars) or market exchange rates (constant U.S. dollars). This option affects all analyses involving income and economic intensity. Within CAIT, click Display in the navigation bar.

Easier User-Defined Regions

Often you want a region that's a superset or subset of one or more previously existing regions, for example, Annex I plus China and India. CAIT makes it easy to create these groups. Within CAIT, click User-Defined Regions, then click the Create button. A new dropdown box below the list of countries lets you select all countries within pre-existing region.
