Data Resources
Data found in the Climate Indicators Analysis Tool is drawn from sources listed below. Many of these offer on-line data access.
- Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC). Includes carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels, cement, and land use change.
- Energy Information Administration (EIA):
- International Energy Annual. Includes carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels as well as energy, population, and GDP data.
- International Energy Outlook. Includes projections of carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels as well as energy use, population, GDP and other projections.
- International Energy Agency (IEA). Includes carbon dioxide emissions from fuel combustion, as well as a wide variety of energy data (subscription required).
- Earthtrends. WRI's online collection of environmental, social, and economic data.
- Environmental Protection Agency (Non-CO2 & Carbon Sequestration). Provides documentation and emission estimates for methane and other non-CO2 gases.
- Emission Database for Global Atmospheric Research (EDGAR). Includes most greenhouse gases and ozone and aerosol precursors (from RIVM).
- United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC):
- Special Report on Emission Scenarios (SRES). Data version 1.1 includes emissions and other projections associated with 40 SRES scenarios (from CIESIN).
- World Development Indicators online (WDI). The World Bank's premier annual compilation of data about development. WDI 2004 includes approximately 800 indicators (subscription required).
- Human Development Indicators online (United Nations Development Programme, UNDP). Includes a wide variety of development-related indicators.
- GEO Data Portal (United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP). This online database holds more than 400 different indicator variables.
- CIA World Factbook. Includes a wide variety of country-specific data.
